“When we moved from California to (suburb in Minnesota, my daughter) was lonely there.  On day, I saw her hair; she had dyed it blond.  Blond hair! I said, ‘it makes your face look so pale,’ but she explained her reason.  She had no friends, expected to do group activities.  The teacher expected her to work in groups. When she went to school with blond hair, everyone hugged her.  They said, “You look like us!” – Hmong Interviewee
