Event Brings Taboo Subject to Light

The Cottage Grove Human Rights/Human Services Commission is making a point of talking about an issue that often isn't discussed openly:  race.

With the event "Facing Race:  A New Conversation about Race and Racism", the commission hopes to encourage discussion and help people be more conscious of racial issues.

"Cottage Grove is getting to be so diverse," Commission member Jen Peterson said.  "People are going to need to be aware."

Attendees will watch videos and participate in discussions in issues related to race. The even is a program of the St. Paul Foundation.
